Greatness Of Temple:

Moolatho Brahmma Rupaya, Madhyatho Shiva Rupine, Akradho Vishnu Rupaya Sathyadevayathe Namah.? Obeisance to thee Lord Sathyadeva, You are Lord Brahmma at the bottom, Lord Vishnu in the middle and Lord Vishnu at the top.Since days of yore, devotees undertake Sathyanarayana fasting and Puja on the Chitra Poornima day in April-May or on the Poornima Day in Aavani ? August-September. This is a compulsory worship in Hindu families in Andhra Pradesh. In the first year of the wedding, the couple should worship Lord Veera Venkata Satya Narayana Swami and perform the Sathyanarayana puja in the very temple complex with fasting and continue the same each year in their homes. It is worth recalling that Lords Brahmma, Vishnu and Shiva are blessing the devotees in one form as Thanu Mal Ayan in the Suseendram temple in Tamilnadu. This is Shivalinga form. Lord appears in a standing posture in Annavaram temple with Mother Ananthalakshmi (Mahalakshmi). The temple looks like a big chariot with four great wheels, tall flag post with a pillar depicted with various forms of Lord Vishnu. The darshan of the presiding deity is very clear even at a distance as the sanctum sanctorum too is very tall and broad. The temple has a spacious wedding hall in modern style. There are separate shrines for Lord Sri Rama and Mother Vanadurga. There are a number of Homa Kundas ? fire pits ? around the prakara so as to conduct 1500 performances of the puja simultaneously. This is performed as Kalasa puja in Tamilnadu where Andhra devotees perform the same puja with Homas. If the couples are unable to perform this puja personally at the temple, the priests do it for them if the prescribed fee is remitted. The puja space is cleaned with cow dung. A new Vastra ?piece of cloth is placed on the space. The four corners are decorated with turmeric powder. Rice is spread on the space-cloth piece. Silver or mud pots are filled with mango leaves and again on a new cloth and an idol-prathima is placed personifying Lord Satyanarayana. Pujas are offered to Vinayaka, Lakshmi, Parvathi, Shiva, Navagrahas and Ashtathik Palakas. This is followed by abishek and Aradhanas to Lord Satyadeva. A nivedhana with fruits, cow milk, broken wheat and jaggery is prepared for this puja. After the puja, stories related to Satynarayana Vrata and the benefits of the puja are recited. Those participating and those observing the puja proceedings are offered this Prasad at the end of the puja and no one should refuse to accept the Prasad as it would be construed as hurting the Lord, who wishes his blessings to reach one and all. The Satyanarayana puja commences from 6.00 a.m. in the temple and continues till 6.00 p.m. Devotees of Andhra consider this puja very important and as a commitment. Every couple should perform this puja in their homes without fail. There are many Murthis in the sanctum sanctorum. The idol is about 10 feet tall. Lord appears with all features of Dhana Veerya, Dhaya Veerya and Yuddha Veerya and with Mother Madanandha Lakshmi Satydevi and Lord Kailasanatha in Linga form on His left and right respectively. Lord Kailasanatha appears with a golden cover during the festivals. The temple is of two floor design. In the ground floor, is installed the Maddhiripadh Vibuti Vaikunda Maha Narayana Yantra. This brings all prosperity and man power to the devotee. Around the Yantra are the shrines for Lord Vinayaka, Suryanarayana, Bala Tripura Sundari and Maheswara in four directions. Above this Yantra is the Vishnu Panchayudha Yantra. On these Yantras, Lord Satyadeva graces from the upper floor. The shrine of Sri Rama is near by. According to local history-sthala purana, Lord Sri Rama found these Archavadaras first.

Temple History:

This famous temple at the foot of Ratnagiri Hills, was built by Ratnakar son of Meru, according to sthala purana.? He performed penance here.? The Ratnagiri hill is 300 feet above sea level.? As the rich-charitable minded people were ever feeding the poor, the place came to be known as Annavaram ? Annam in Sanskrit means rice.? It is also said that the place is so named as Lord Satyadeva grants all boons to his devotees ? Anidha Varam.?How Satyanarayana Puja came into practice: Maharshi Narada, aggrieved by the hardships experienced by people on earth, appealed to Lord Mahavishnu for a remedy. Lord said that Satyanarayana Vrata and puja alone would eliminate all their miseries in life and ensure all happiness and prosperity. He also said that He is in Annavaram as a combination of Hari, Hara and Brahmma. There is also an interesting-inspiring story in Skanda Maha Purana. A couple Sadhavu and Leelavathi prayed to Lord committing that they would observe Satyanarayana Vratha if they get a child. They were blessed with a daughter ? Kalavathi. The wife reminded her husband of their commitment. He said that they would do it after her marriage. That too took place. The husband, despite reminders by his wife was procrastinating. Not only Sadhavu (the husband) and his son-in-law incurred heavy losses in their business but were also imprisoned on various charges. Mother Leelavathi and daughter Kalavathi came to streets for begging. They saw the puja going in a house and received Prasad from them. Though poor then, mother and daughter observed this fasting to the best of their means, performed the puja and completed the fasting. The family recovered all that they lost and became prosperous again.Lord granted darshan on a Maga star day on the Aavani Poornima day under the Angudu tree. The tree then became the village deity praised as Nerilamma. This is the Sthala Vruksha of the temple representing the grace of Lord Brahmma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. Devotees light lamps here using coconut oil. Worshipping in this temple once would bring benefits of 108 visits to Tirupati, it is believed.

Special Features:
