   Madhuranthagi was the queen of Kulothunga Chola I.? The queen enjoyed a celebrity status throughout the kingdom and was known as Avani Muzhudhum Udayal, Bhuvan Muzhudhum Udayal both meaning as the ruler of the world, according to stone carvings and also as Dheena Chintamani.? Hence, it is believed that the temple been built by Kulothunga I.? Lord Nagavarna Perumal Temple with Mothers Radha and Rukmini is at the centre of the place.? Perumal is also praised as Naadu Udaya Perumal ? Perumal of the Land and Valaal Vazhi Vahutha Perumal ? Perumal who made way with His sword.? The name of the place was Vijaya Rajendra Vala Nadu (the fertile kingdom of Vijaya Rajendra) and Nadu Udaya Perumal Nallur.There are historical evidences of Perumal in His alluring posture had come in procession through the streets of Dheena Chintamani Nallur now known as Nagar. Many festivals had been celebrated in the place, Aadi Pooram and Vaikunda Ekadasi in particular. People from the adjoining villages camped here for the festivals during the Purattasi month ? Temple History:

   Nalliakodan was a king of the Oima kingdom noted for his righteous rule.? He was keen for the safety of the welfare of his subjects and cows in the kingdom.? He dug wells and tanks and took care of rivers to ensure availability of water at all times.? He supported the learned with gold.? He is the hero of the poem Siru Panattru Padai forming part of the Tamil Sangam literatures.His subjects saw him not simply as a king but as God himself. But the king believed that it was the grace of Almighty instrumental for the wealth of his kingdom. Many places in the kingdom as Idai Kazhi Nadu, Eyil Pattinam, Aamur Moodhoor Velur, Maavilangai parts grew with urban status. One such among them is Dheena Chintamani Nallur.
