   While Mother Parvathi Devi was performing penance on Lord Shiva in Kancheepuram, four deities, Arasu Katha Amman, Pachai Amman, Sandaiveli Amman, Karukkinil Amarndha Amman were Her securities on the four sides.? Arasu Katha Amman was the chief among them.? As She was a custodian to the Chola Rule ? Arasu, She is praised as Arasu Katha Amman, according to other story.? She is wearing? kundalam-hanging ear ring on the right ear,? plain ear ring in left.? She is facing north.? She has two long teeth on each side ? Korai Parkal in Tamil ? and holds rattle drum in the upper right hand, trident in the lower right hand, Pasam the rope in the upper left hand and a skull in the lower left hand.? The six feet tall Ambika appears with Her left leg pressed on the head of a demon.? Deities facing north are generally regarded as custodians of the place.
